Hi! I want to thank you for checking out the sight. Let me tell you a bit about myself. My first experience with CoffeeLoft.org was visiting my brother in spring of 2006. I stayed with him about a month off and on, during that time I worked at doing some remodeling in the house. At that time I fell in love with the community. In January of 2007 I moved into the SCC house and joined the CoffeeLoft.org community. I started as the director of CoffeeLoft.org in August 2007.
The community is unique. We often find it difficult to explain what exactly CoffeeLoft.org is. Recently, I had a conversation with a friend about the organization. She asked me, "Isn't Coffee Loft a Christian organization?" (Christian - said with that tone that isn't necessarily a positive thing. As 'Christian' is used to describe people from a large range of backgrounds, representing all sorts of different beliefs.) I said yes, however, we try and look at Jesus’ life and live like he would. College students are discovering themselves while here at the U. They are not looking for people to tell them what to believe; nor do they want to just adapt the same beliefs as their parents. Students are searching, learning, and discovering who they are as individuals. This exploration of self should also involve the student’s spiritual life. At CoffeeLoft.org we try and are a part of groups that are working toward the greater good of society. We strive to be an open, loving community, welcome to all students no matter where they are in their spiritual lives.
